The BET Awards 2017 went down Sunday, June 25 at the Microsoft Theatres and boy, wasn’t it an event to behold? The BET Awards are held annually to recognise the outstanding acts in film, music, television and sports. A separate awarding ceremony was held earlier to recognise international artists, in which Rayvanny and Wizkid were feted.
Not only did the stars bring their all on the red carpet, but the performances were also lit! This years winners’ list took a surprising turn as some of the most renowned artists and BET veterans walked away empty-handed (read Chris Brown) while some new artists bagged some of the most coveted awards.
This year’s BET Awards will be remembered as the one in which Nicki Minaj’s winning streak was brought to an end by the controversial Remy Ma. Beyonce, the queen of Hip Hop, maintained her hold on the Best Female RnB Artist Award. We are yet to find someone who will unseat her on that throne, she bagged the most awards for the night.
The night was not without drama though. Popular group Migos members were involved in an altercation with host Joe Budden and later with Chris Brown and his crew. Apparently, Migos member Quavo had a run-in with ace RnB singer Chris Brown over Karrueche Tran, Chris’ ex who is currently dating Quavo.
Drama aside, here is the complete list of the winners.
