A young woman, who competed for Miss Tanzania 2016 crown, was last weekend cut her in the head by a gang of robbers.
Queen Nazil, who hails from Ilala area in Dar es Salaam, was attacked by the gang after being dropped at home by a friend.
“She had just arrived home after a night out with friends; and when she was waiting for her sister to open the gate, two men on a motorbike ambushed her, demanding she gives them her handbag.
“Since the handbag had her phone, iPhone 6 model, TSh200, 000 (KSh9, 400) and other valuables, Queen tried to resist, and that is when one member of the gang cut her in the head with a panga. She collapsed, and was left bleeding profusely,” a source told Tanzania’s Risasi Newspaper.
Good Samaritans rushed the Tumaini University Third Year Bachelor of Law student to a Dar es Salaam hospital for urgent care.
A student leader at Tumaini University, namely Grey Paul, confirmed that Queen was attacked by robbers when she had gone to visit her sister Saturday night.
Grey, however, said he does not know where Queen was putting up after she left her hostel room in Mwenge on Friday.
Queen’s friend has said she is responding well to treatment.
Police in Dar es Salaam are looking for the two-man gang who remain at large.
