Awww…see Michelle and Barack Obama’s first date

Have you ever wondered what sparked off the romance between Michelle and Barack Obama?

Well, a new romantic drama film explores a young Barack as he tries to impress Michelle, who happens to be his superior at work.

The duo met when a brazen Barack nagged his beautifu

l summer supervisor – then called Michelle Robinson –for a date, under the guise of attending a community meeting.

Obama picks her up from her family home in a worn out jalopy, arriving late in true Kenyan fashion (of course we had to drop his Kenyan heritage into this article).

She initially rebuffs his advances, saying it would be improper seeing as she is his summer supervisor at work.

“How’s it gonna look if I start dating the first cute black guy that walks through the firm’s door? It would be tacky ” Michelle asks in the first trailer for Southside With You.

Somehow, Obama only heard her refer him to her as “cute”, and he continued to pursue her.

A confident Obama takes her on a whirlwind of a date. They watch the film Do the Right Thing, get ice cream, and attend a community meeting.

In between the activities, Obama tells his future Mrs about his vision for the underprivileged people of Chicago, unknowingly giving her a glimpse into his future work as the president of the United States.

Though Obama and Michelle are yet to comment officially in the film, sources within the White House have told Vanity Fair that the First Couple is excited about the re-imagining of the first date.

Speaking after the premiere of the movie at the Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker Richard Tanne said that story depicted in the film is largely representative of the Obama’s first date in 1989.

“The trajectory of the date is about 90 percent accurate. They went to the art institute. They had lunch afterwards. They saw Do the Right Thing. They had ice cream. They kissed outside the ice cream parlor, at Baskin-Robbins. . .There was some question as to whether or not the community organizing meeting happened on the first date, or if it just happened early in the courtship but dramatically it worked, so I just put it in. Again, it’s a fictionalized account, so I tried to be as authentic as possible,” he explained.

The film will be released to US theaters in August 2016;dates for other counties are yet to be set.
