A vehicle belonging to Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor was burnt by unknown arsonists at his rural home in Kabete village, Kisumu County Saturday night.

According to Kisumu Police Commander Titus Yoma, the MP’s vehicle – a Mitsubishi Pajero – and a maize store were razed in the midnight incident.

Mr Yoma says neighbours rushed to the MP’s house at the time of the incident but only managed to put out the fire at the store. The vehicle had burned down completely.

George Omondi – a former head teacher of Nyabondo Boys’ Boarding Primary School –, who committed suicide last week, allegedly mentioned MP Aduma Owuor in his suicide note as one of the people who frustrated him at work.

Many suspect that the statement in the note might have led to the torching incident.

Kisumu Police boss Titus Yoma said that the MP, Aduma Owuor, was not at home at the time of the incident.

Mr Yoma says they have launched investigations into the matter.

Report by George Amolo.
