A middle-aged man’s body was on Monday morning (May 22) discovered floating in River Athi, 50 meters away from where slain Churo/Amaya Member of County Assembly (MCA), Thomas Minito, was found three days earlier.
According to a resident, who spoke to eDaily in confidence, the only part of the middle-aged man’s body that was visible, at the time, was his torso. The resident suspects that the man drowned and his body only floated after it had begun decomposing. Others suspect that the middle-aged man was killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the river.
Police arrived at the scene Monday afternoon and took the man’s body to City Mortuary in Nairobi.
Investigation into the death of the man, who is yet to be identified, is underway.
Churo Amaya ward MCA Thomas Minito from Baringo County, who had been missing for the five days, was found dead at Ol Donyo Sabuk Bridge, Athi River on Friday, May 19.
The body of the slain MCA was found under the bridge by a boda boda operator who alerted the police.
It is suspected that he was killed elsewhere and then dumped at the scene, police said.
His body had a head injury suspected to be caused by a blunt object.
