An undated picture showing COTU boss Francis Atwoli and former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe flossing boxes containing two bottles of expensive alcohol has created a buzz on social media.
The picture was first shared on Twitter by former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on January 5.

The former county chief captioned the image, saying: “These guys drink serious stuff.”
In the picture, Mr Atwoli was carrying a box of Glenfiddich Excellence 26 Year Old Scotch Whisky 700ml valued at Ksh120, 000 by Jumia, while Mr Murathe displayed a box of Hennessy XO 750ml valued at Ksh27, 999.
The two boxes of liquor collectively cost Ksh147, 999.
-2-YEAR HOUSE RENT-
The 2018 Bloomberg home-renting site ranking states that an average cost of a house accommodating two adults is $53 (Ksh5, 300) in Nairobi.
Based on that report, if you are paying a monthly house rent of Ksh5, 300, then it would take you two years and three months to raise the amount of money Mr Atwoli and Mr Murathe splashed on those two boxes of alcohol.
Mr Kabogo’s tweet attracted reactions from Kenyans, with Gatundu South MP replying, saying “Kitaeleweka.”
Patricia Imea said: “Yeah, one [of the bottles of alcohol] costs Ksh120K and other Ksh27K, but do you think that is something to brag about? When a lot of children have not reported to school due to lack of fees? We don’t need heroes; we want efficient people who will leave legacy to young generations.”
Amosuk said: “It’s only the liver that suffers the consequences, unfortunately.”
Josiah Khatili said: “And Solomon, one of the wisest men who’ve ever lived, said, “Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.” (Proverbs 23:31).”
