A picture of Kenyan singer Akothee throwing a kick up in the air while dressed in a swimsuit on stage, has gone viral online, sparking mixed reactions among her fans.
The “Give it to Me” hit-maker performed at the One Africa Music Fest held at the SSE Wembley Arena in London last weekend.
In her animal-print swimsuit, black ankle-length boots, a microphone in her right hand and a gaze fixed at an angle, Akothee spread her legs quite apart as she threw her left in the air, unconcerned of what her colossal fanbase in the lower part of the arena thought of her.
Unapologetically, she uploaded the image to her Instagram page, and captioned it: “Thailand mode”.
The picture, expectedly, attracted hundreds of comments, with a section of online users faulting Akothee for being mannerless, others were bemused by her “don’t-care” attitude, while another quota defended her, saying since she is a performer, that was among the best efforts she could make to entertain.
Nyambura Paty said: “Not a good image at all!”
Carolyne Ivita said: “I know your pastor is ashamed of you. Style up, mama. Heshima si utumwa. Anyway, continue making money.”
Kesh Galge said: “The world is coming to an end.”
Eve Mutete said: “Akothee mummy, we love you, but this is too much!”
Habib Tyme, however, cheered Akothee on, saying: “You go get that money, mama. No stopping.”
Akothee was among other African acts such as Diamond Platnumz and Tiwa Savage who thrilled London revelers at the One Africa Music Fest on Saturday, June 2.
