After leaving the Olympics in tears following injury, Julius Yego speaks out

Kenya’s YouTube Champion Julius Yego has finally broken his silence after he was wheeled out of the Rio 2016 Olympics in tears, following an ankle injury that forced him to retire from the competition.

Yego, who made history in London 2012 where he became the pioneering African to compete at the final, took the silver medal for the men’s javelin throw despite the injury.

Fans were worried and heartbroken on Sunday morning as many expected the self-taught world champion to bag a gold medal for Kenya.

Pictures of his bloodied ankle raised alarm on social media, prompting speculations about the seriousness of the injury.

Yego has, however, assured fans that all will be well.

“It was that painful, but I thank God it not serious as I thought!” read a post on one of his social media pages.

Appreciating fans who sent him encouraging messages following the Olympic event, Yego promised that he will make a triumphant return once he has healed.

“I am going to be back stronger guys, love you all my fans wherever you are. Your tremendous support can never go unnoticed! You always cheer me up even in hard times! God bless you all,” he posted on his personal page.

eDaily  congratulates Yego on his stellar performance. Even with a painful injury, you have done Kenya proud.
