Sultry Tanzanian songstress Vanessa Mdee will now share the stage with global R&B sensation Chris Brown Saturday, after her management struck a deal with Mombasa Rocks organisers.
The Niroge hit-maker had earlier told fans that her much anticipated performance was cancelled because of a disagreement between her and the Mombasa Rocks team, adding that the event planners had failed to honor the terms of their initial agreement.
“I was scheduled to perform at #MombasaRocks this Saturday, but due to organizers failing to meet our agreed terms, I regret that I will not be performing in Mombasa this weekend. I was really looking forward to seeing you all…but you know, if it does respect the initial agreement, it does not make sense,” read an announcement on her official Twitter account.
Sources say that her management and the Mombasa Rocks team embarked on talks after the news went viral on Friday, with Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho playing a key role in the resolution of their differences.
Shortly afterward, her management released a statement to confirm that the 28-year-old Tanzanian star will perform alongside Chris Brown and Wizkid Saturday night.
“Contrary to previous reports highlighting disagreement between her and the festival’s management, Vanessa Mdee management would like to now confirm that both parties have reached an understanding thanks to Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s involvement,” read the statement.
The concert will be held at Mombasa Golf Club, and tickets are now going for Ksh14, 000 a pair.
eDaily, Citizen TV and Hot 96 are sponsoring the show.
