The body of a 32-year-old woman, who was kidnapped one week ago from a night club in Embu, has been found.

Embu West Division Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) George Etyang says Lauryn Wambui’s body was retrieved from River Kapigaci on Sunday, December 17. The woman had deep cuts in her scalp.

Mr Etyang says Ms Wambui was reported missing on December 10 shortly after she was spotted at an entertainment joint on Embu-Meru highway.

According to the detective, the tricenarian was lured out of the nightclub, where she was having a drink, by unknown people. That was the last time she was seen in public.

Her body would, a week later, be discovered floating on River Kapigaci by residents, who had gone to fetch water.

Police arrested a man, Alvin Mugendi, on suspicion of killing Ms Wambui. Mr Mugendi was found in possession of the deceased’s cell phone.

Ms Wambui’s body was moved to Embu Level Five Hospital awaiting postmortem.
