A 27-year-old woman from Chebios Village in Marakwet West, Elgeyo-Marakwet County has been arrested after she stabbed her mother-in-law to death on Thursday morning.
The suspect, only identified as Mercy, stabbed her husband’s mother, 47, several times in the chest and back.
The killing took place after Mercy’s mother-in-law, Annah Kangogo, went to intervene, when she heard commotions emanating from her son’s house. Mercy and her husband were wrangling at the time.
According to Tenden Location assistant chief Joseph Kiplagat, Kangogo died on the spot following the brutal stabbing.
Mercy’s husband was reportedly helplessly watching, when the suspect was stabbing his mother.
Kangogo’s body was moved to Kitale District Hospital mortuary.
The suspect and her husband have been arrested, and are being detained at Kapcherop Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.
