Police in Nyatike, Migori County have launched an investigation into the death of a 25-year-old man, whose body was found hanging on a rope tied to the eaves of his neighbour’s living room Monday afternoon.
Elvis Odoyo killed himself in Tagache Sub-Location in Nyatike Sub-County.
The deceased’s neighbour, who lives and works in Nairobi, was not at home during the incident.
Odoyo gained access to his neighbour’s house using his [Odoyo] brother’s key. Odoyo’s brother and the neighbour are friends.
Confirming the incident, area assistant chief Elijah Warioba said the cause of Odoyo’s suicidal ideation is yet to be established.
“We are yet to know why he decided to end his life; and why he did that in his neighbour’s house. We are probing his family members to try and get answers to our questions,” said Mr Warioba.
Odoyo, who was previously living in Mombasa, returned to Nyatike two weeks ago.
Odoyo’s body was moved to the Migori Level Four Hospital.
