A 23-year-old man was on Wednesday, October 24 found dead in a lodging facility in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The man, who had booked himself into the accommodation facility Tuesday night, failed to open the door of his room early Wednesday, when the lodging staff wanted to clean the room.
Police officers from an Eldoret station, who had been alerted of the incident, arrived at the lodging and broke down the door, where they found the man had died.
Next to his body, was a “bottle containing medicine” and authorities suspect he used the substance to kill himself.
Reasons for the suspected suicide remain unclear.
The man’s body was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as investigations into his death continue.
Last week, a woman who worked as an accountant at the Nandi County Assembly was found dead in a hotel room in Eldoret. It was suspected that she committed suicide by “overdosing on strong medicine”.
