A civil society group is planning on using over 200 live rats next week to protest a proposal by the Nyeri County Assembly to spend Ksh 75 million on a health club.
The Operation Ondoa Panya National Coordinator, John Wamagata, says the protesters will take rats with them during the peaceful protests in Nyeri Town.
According to Wamagata, it is wrong for the MCAs to embark on such an expensive project while neglecting pressing issues.
“By Saturday, I will give a notification to police in Nyeri about the planned protests and then we go around collecting the rats. This is the only way we can highlight the problem to the people of Nyeri,” said Wamagata.
The match will end at the Nyeri County Assembly.
Last year, Wamagata was cleared to vie for the Kabete Parliamentary seat in the by-election occasioned by the death of then MP George Muchai but lost to Ferdinand Waititu.
