A session of the Senate Public Affairs Committee (PAC) was prematurely terminated after Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero and Senator Gideon Mbuvi alias Mike Sonko engaged in a heated verbal altercation.
Kidero and Sonko are said to have exchanged words after the latter alleged that the Governor, and some of his allies, had murdered a property owner on Nairobi’s lavish Kilimani estate.
Online users had sparks of reactions after the video went viral on social media showing the senate meeting adjourned and media blocked from covering the unfolding events.
NARC-K chairperson Martha Karua who is visiting Brussels for a development summit, questioned the nature of the altercation when she learnt of the brawl.
Kakamega senator, Boni Khalwale who was in attendance said the altercation was over corruption surrounding the collection of county revenue.
